Dr. Ewing's Corner
Dear Friends of Victor Community Church,
I celebrate with you as God continues to bless this growing church family. Victor Community Church enjoys the dynamic partnership of a purpose-driven Leadership Team and a gifted, energetic Staff under the direction of Senior Pastor Rev. Steve & Tina Lamarco who serve with inspired passion. Victor Community Church is a member church of the North American Baptist Conference.
The North American Baptist Conference (NAB) has thirteen Regional Ministers, and I am the Eastern Regional Minister serving the 32 NAB Churches of Ontario, Quebec, Western Vermont, Upstate New York and Western Pennsylvania.
The focus of the NAB Conference is to:
-
Impact the NEXT Community
-
Reach the NEXT Nation
-
Equip the NEXT Generation
Affirmations
-
Prayer. We intentionally make prayer a substantial part of our gatherings, exploring technologies and ideas that invite our leaders and churches to pray.
-
Affirm the importance of the word “NEXT”. God calls us into an adventure that moves us beyond ourselves. Our mandate is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the next person.
-
Impact the NEXT Community. Churches are encouraged and resourced to look beyond their present location. How can NAB churches bring Impact with the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Is there a tangible need to be met, a ministry to start, a church to be planted?
-
Reach the NEXT Nation. The next nation is in your present community and in a community across the oceans. Churches are encouraged and equipped to develop relationships with nations both at home and overseas.
-
Equip the NEXT Generation. We intentionally equip and develop leaders of each generation to impact their community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That generation might be in their teens or in their 60’s.
-
Serve as a NETWORK of leaders and Churches. NAB functions as a Conference as opposed to a Denomination. That means networking to resource one another as well as having increased participation of RM’s in NAB mission initiatives.
By God’s Grace & for His Glory,
Dr. Dave & Jean Ewing – NAB Eastern Regional Minister

Dr. Ewing’s Mission
As Eastern Regional Minister the most important part of my work is helping pastors and leaders find success in their ministry. My goal is to help others discover what God wants them to do and then prosper in doing it. The Eastern Region of the North American Baptist Conference includes Western New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Ontario and Quebec. There are twelve other NAB Regional Ministers serving in their own geographic regions. As Regional Ministers we have a monthly SKYPE style talking community and meet face-to-face twice each year. Once each year we meet with the NAB General Council and once every three years we meet with the delegates from over 400 NAB Churches for the Triennial Conference meetings.
Visiting Churches
We enjoy visiting the church families of our Eastern Region in a face-to-face setting. Every weekend we travel to one of our American churches in Grand Island, Buffalo, Medina, Holley, Rochester, Pittsford, Victor, Cowlesville, Erie, Pittsburgh and Hydeville or one of our Canadian churchers in Killaloe, Arnprior, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Burlington, Hamilton, Kitchener, London and St. Catharines.
Prayer Ministry
Scripture reading & prayer are high priorities for me. My wife, Jean, partners with me by sharing input, traveling thousands of miles together and staying in touch with the wives of pastors and church leaders. Even as I pray and work with the regional men for their annual Men’s Retreat, Jean prays for the women and attends their annual Women’s Retreat. Jean emails a weekly prayer calendar to the wives of the pastors.
Coaching
I coach or walk along side association pastors and leaders as they take on special projects or journey through an ordination process or experience relocation and calling to serve with a new church family. Each year I mentor a half-dozen pastors and leaders as they invest nine months in special Coach Training where they learn how to ask powerful questions without taking control of the lives of others.
Annual Events
We spend focused time in Niagara Falls during the annual Pastors/Wives Retreat in February. In early June we share special time with the men for the Men’s Retreat at Canandaigua Lake, NY and in mid-June with the women for the Ladies Retreat in Guelph, Ontario. The third weekend of October is our Annual Conference meetings held in one of our regional churches. We celebrate church anniversaries and baptisms.
Miscellaneous
There is a vast array of meetings including the Executive Committee, the Home Missions Committees CANADA/USA and the Credentials Committee not to mention the meetings of special concern with churches, pastors and leadership teams. I have the privilege of sharing face-to-face and by phone with any number of individuals in their times of joy or sorrow. I email a monthly Regional Rag newsletter.
